Komodo Yacht is an independent travel information website covering Komodo National Park, Labuan Bajo, and the wider Flores and Nusa Tenggara Timur region. It publishes practical guides for people planning a trip: what the park costs to enter, how boat trips are organised, when to go, and what to expect once you arrive.
The site sells nothing, and takes no commission from anyone who does.
What Komodo Yacht Covers
The site is organised into five areas.
Komodo National Park covers the park itself. Entrance fees and permits, the rules visitors are expected to follow, the daily quota system, the dragons, and the islands that sit inside the park boundary such as Padar, Rinca and Pink Beach.
Labuan Bajo covers the gateway town on the western tip of Flores. Almost every Komodo trip begins there, so these guides deal with getting to it, what to expect at the airport, which part of town suits which kind of stay, and what there is to do on the days you are not on a boat.
Destinations & Islands looks beyond the park boundary. The small islands within reach of Labuan Bajo for a day trip, and destinations further east across Flores and the wider Nusa Tenggara Timur province.
Boat Trips explains how boat travel around Komodo actually works. Open trips and private charters, day trips and liveaboards, what the different boat classes mean in practice, what a night on board involves, and what to check before committing to anything.

Why This Website Exists
Practical information about this part of Indonesia is scattered, and a good deal of it disagrees. Ask what it costs to enter Komodo National Park and you will find several different answers published with equal confidence, some of them citing figures that no official source has confirmed. The same is true of permit requirements, visitor quotas, and what a boat trip does and does not include.
Much of what is published about the region comes from businesses that sell trips there. That does not make it wrong, but it does mean a reader is usually being informed and sold to at the same time, and the two are not always easy to separate.
This site exists to gather the practical answers in one place, say where each one comes from, and be clear about the difference between what has been confirmed and what is simply being repeated.
How We Research and Handle Information
We use official and primary sources wherever they exist, and we name them. For the national park, that means the park authority and the official reservation platform. For travel into the region, it means airport and airline operators and government tourism bodies. Where a fact comes from one of these, the guide says so and links to it.
Commercial sources are treated differently. Charter companies, dive operators and booking platforms publish a great deal about Komodo, and much of it is a useful starting point. We treat it as something to check rather than as a source to cite. A figure that appears on ten operator websites is still a single unsourced claim if none of them says where it came from.
Anything that changes carries a date. Fees, permits, quotas, schedules and prices are marked with when they were last checked, in the place where the figure appears rather than only at the top of the page. A number without a date is not much use to someone planning six months ahead.
Where sources disagree, or where nothing official has been published, we say so. It is more useful to know that a fee has been reported but not confirmed than to be handed a single figure that turns out to be wrong at the gate. One thing is worth stating plainly. This site is researched rather than reported from the ground. We do not claim first-hand knowledge of the places we write about, and nothing here is presented as personal experience. What we can offer is careful reading of the sources that do have that knowledge, and honesty about where the gaps are.
Fee and permit pages are checked on a regular cycle, and each one shows the date it was last reviewed.
What Readers Can Expect
Guides written to answer a question rather than to fill a page. Where we state a fact, you should be able to see where it came from. Where we suggest something, it is written as a suggestion rather than presented as fact.
You will find practical detail: what things cost, how long they take, how the options compare, and what tends to catch people out. You will not find recommendations of particular operators, hotels or boats. We have no basis for ranking companies we have no relationship with, and a list of “the best” would be guesswork dressed up as advice.
Conditions here change often enough that some of what you read will eventually be out of date. Every page shows when it was published and when it was last updated, so you can judge for yourself how current it is.

The domain name suggests a charter business, so it is worth being direct. Komodo Yacht does not sell or arrange yacht charters, does not operate boats, and does not book tours, tickets or accommodation. It is not a travel agency or a booking intermediary, and it has no commercial relationship with any operator mentioned on the site.
Where a guide links to a third-party website, that link is for reference. It is not an endorsement, and we cannot guarantee any service you arrange elsewhere.
Travel Information Can Change
Park regulations, entrance fees, quotas, ferry and flight schedules, and operator policies in this region all change, sometimes with little notice. Sea and weather conditions vary through the year and from one week to the next.
